Popa Falls to Kasane, Botswana

Still in Debbie and Peter's car, we drove through the Caprivi Strip. Apparently this long narrow strip of land was negotiated by Namibia to give them access to the Zambezi River. The B8 took us to Kongola, then Katima Mulilo and south to Ngoma, in the Chobe National Park on the border with Botswana.

The border crossing was fairly straight forward and we had to dip our footwear in a tray of disinfectant to prevent any foot & mouth disease going into Botswana.
At the border we saw our first Baobob trees.

Later in the day Peter drove us to the airport to pick up our hire car (there were none available between Swakopmund and Kasane). We now have a Ford Ranger for the rest of our trip. On the way back to the Lodge we called into the shopping strip to see if we could get some Botswana money, the Pula. The exchange was closed and there were a couple of ATM's which we didn't feel comfortable about using. Some of our group later told us that there were a couple of men sitting near the ATM and filming transactions. They rang & had their cards cancelled. We found another exchange and changed a small amount of cash. The US dollar is used fairly readily here.
