Okavango Delta to Kasane Botswana

Prior to our 9.30am flight out of the Delta, we had a 3 hour game drive.
The highlight was seeing a very pregnant lioness lying on her back near some tree branches. She was not disturbed by the arrival of the safari trucks. She rolled back onto her stomach and started washing her paws. Suddenly she just got up, walked past our truck and flopped down in a shaded area.

We drove around a few waterholes and saw a large flock of pelicans, lots of wading birds, guinea fowl who wander all over the road and a hippo out of the water. Zebra were everywhere and lots of giraffes.

                                           Birds pecking ticks from buffalo

The return flight was much hazier than coming in so visibility wasn't good.

Back at the Lodge we had a free afternoon until a sunset cruise at 4pm. While we were still moored, a large crocodile floated by. A few more hippos in the river, water lilies, papyrus, buffalo and many birds. Just before sunset we moored and discovered the lodge staff had set up a bar with canapes to watch the sun go down.
