Sunday 15th October 2017
Etosha West (Etosha Lodge) to Etosha East (Mokuti Lodge)
173 kilometres

An early start to drive through the Etosha National Park. At the entrance to the park was a group of Himba women (heavily pigmented (butterfat and ochre) plaited hair and scantily clad) were by the entrance seeking to sell carved wooden animals.
Just inside the entrance the Porsche had a carburettor fire causing sufficient damage that it could not easily be repaired and had to be towed out.

Another hot day (about 43 degrees) driving through the park with plenty of animals to see. On arrival at the Mokuti Lodge we booked a river trip to see hippos and crocodiles. The Ovambo river was teeming with groups of hippos, lounging about. You have to be quick to get a picture of a hippo opening its huge jaws and all you see is the pink insides of very large mouths. No crocodiles about, or none to be seen.
