Hermanus to Cape Town
Only 120kms today to get to the rally headquarters at the One & Only Hotel at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town. We had to do it by the map & road signs as the charger in the hire car wasn't working and the GPS battery was flat.
On arrival there were a few cars there already and some were picking up from the docks this afternoon. The foyer was full of people we knew from previous rallies and it was great to renew acquaintances and meet new people arriving for their first rally.
Ours wasn't the only hard luck story. Janet & Ed from USA (they did the Rally of the Incas in a navy VW) had decided to get a car (1960's Audi) prepared here as they had done it once before. Last week they were told that the prepped car had been carjacked at night by gunpoint. They now have to do the rally in a hire car. It sounded a bit suspicious at first but they met with the guy today and believe him.
Pre-dinner drinks and sit down dinner rounded off the evening.
